New York Liberty v Atlanta Dream Recap 10/4/2026

The #8 seed New York Liberty visited the #4 seed Atlanta Dream in game 1 of the WNBA playoff semifinals last night. The story of this game was turnover, the Liberty turned the ball over 21 times which led to 32 Dream points, while they only got the Dream to turn it over 13 times, and weren’t able to convert those into many points, only converting the Dream turnovers into 14 points. The New York Liberty led 24-21 after the first quarter. In the second quarter the two teams were even with 16 points apiece, and the Liberty took a 40-37 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, the Liberty could not stop turning the ball over and giving up easy baskets to the Dream, they were outscored 32-15 in that frame, and could never come back after that bad third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Liberty would outscore the Dream 27-23 but they had dug themselves too deep of a hole, and were only able to cut the lead to 5 a couple times in the quarter. The Dream held on to win 92-82. The Dream had 4 players score in double-figures in the win led by Jordin Canada who had 25 points (20 in the second half) on 9-14 from the field, 4-6 from three, and 3-3 from the free throw line, grabbed a rebound, dished out 4 assists, picked up 5 steals, and a block, Dewanna Bonner had 23 points off the bench on 10-18 from the field, 3-6 from three, and 0-1 at the free throw line, grabbed 9 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, and picked up 2 steals, Angel Reese had 17 points on 6-10 from the field, 1-1 from three, and 4-6 from the free throw line, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, picked up 4 steals, and 3 blocks, Rhyne Howard had 16 points on 5-20 from the field, 1-8 from three, and 5-6 from the free throw line, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 8 assists, and picked up a steal. The Indiana Fever visited the Las Vegas Aces in a winner-takes-all game 3 in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. The score would be even at 31 at the end of the first quarter, but in the second quarter the Aces would outscore the Fever 23-17 and take a 54-48 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, the Fever would outscore the Aces 17-16, and head into the fourth quarter trailing 70-65. In the fourth quarter, the Aces would outscore the Fever 24-18 and hold off a late push by the Fever to win the game by a final score of 94-83. The New York Liberty visited the Minnesota Lynx for game 1 of the first round of the WNBA playoffs yesterday afternoon. The Lynx would score the first 6 points of the game but the Liberty would punch right back with a 15-0 run of their own and they would win the opening quarter 25-18. The Minnesota Lynx would respond by winning the second quarter 26-15 and taking a 44-40 lead into the half. In the third quarter, the Liberty offense got back to the form that it had in the first quarter as they outscored the Lynx 25-16 and took a 65-60 lead into the final quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Liberty would outscore the Lynx 26-15 and extend their lead out where they would win by 16 points with a final score of 91-75. The Liberty had three players score in double-figures led by a historic performance from Breanna Stewart who had 34 points on 11-18 from the field, 2-3 from three, and 10-12 from the free throw line, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out 6 assists, picked up 2 steals, and 2 blocks, Breanna Stewart became the first player in WNBA playoff history to score 30 or more points, grab 10 or more rebounds, dish out 5 or more assists, and have 2 or more steals in a game. The New York Liberty without Breanna Stewart due to knee soreness hosted the Atlanta Dream for the second time in three days for their final game of the regular season last night. The New York Liberty would win the opening quarter 19-18. Then they would completely go silent in the second quarter being held to their lowest point total in any quarter this season scoring just 7 points and allowing the Dream to score 23 points which allowed them to build a 15 point lead heading into the halftime break with a score of 41-26. The 26 points was the lowest number of points they had scored in any half during the season. In the third quarter the Liberty would outscore the Dream 18-17, and be trailing 58-44 headed into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Liberty would try to inch closer but every time the Liberty would go on a run, the Dream would make a timely basket and stop the run, the Dream would end up outscoring the Liberty 25-21 in the quarter and would come away with an 83-65 victory. In the win, the Dream had three players score in double-figures and two players who contributed just under 10 points, led by Allisha Gray who had 24 points on 8-17 from the field, 4-7 from three, and 4-4 from the free throw line, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, picked up 3 steals, and a block, Naz Hillmon had 16 points on 6-13 from the field, 2-8 from three, 2-3 from the free throw line, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, and picked up a steal, Jordin Canada had 12 points on 4-11 from the field, 2-5 from three, and 2-2 from the free throw line, grabbed 2 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, and picked up a steal, Dewanna Bonner had 9 points on 2-7 from the field, 2-4 from three, and 3-4 from the free throw line, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, and picked up a steal, Rhyne Howard had 8 points on 4-12 from the field, 0-5 from three, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 6 assists, and picked up 2 steals.
