The New York Liberty hosted the Chicago Sky for their final game before the All-Star break and it turned out to be an absolute nail-biter much like the first time these two teams played earlier this season in Chicago. The Sky would outscore the Liberty in an offensive clinic of a first quarter 32-26 before the Liberty would win the second quarter 22-14 a much less offensively sound quarter. The Liberty would head into halftime with a 48-46 lead. In the third quarter the Sky would outscore the Liberty 25-22 and enter the final frame with a 71-70 lead. The Liberty would end up having to come back in the fourth quarter after going down by 12 points in the final five minutes of the game, and they would outscore the Sky in the fourth quarter 25-23 and were able to pull out a 95-94 win to end the first half of the season on a high note. Four Liberty players scored in double-digits led by Sabrina Ionescu who scored 29 points including a ridiculous 9 points in the final minute of the game which would tie the game for the Liberty with very little time left, and 13 of her 29 points in the final frame, Breanna Stewart finished the game with 20 points and 9 rebounds on an off shooting night for her just going 5-19 from the field and 2-4 from three, Jonquel Jones put up 14 points and 10 rebounds which included the game-winning free throw with just 3.4 seconds left in the game on 4-9 shooting and 2-5 from beyond the arc, Rebecca Allen as a replacement starter with all of the Liberty injuries scored 12 points on 5-12 from the field and 2-6 from beyond the arc. In a losing effort 3 Sky players scored in double-figures, led by a career-high 31 points from Sydney Taylor on 9-17 shooting from the floor and 4-7 from three, Courtney Vandersloot had 14 points and 4 assists on 5-8 from the field and 1-2 from three, Kamilla Cardoso finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists on 5-11 from the field. The Liberty improved to 15-12 on the season while the Sky fell to 9-18.
