The Oklahoma City Spark hosted the Portland Cascade in Athletes Unlimited Softball League action from Tom Heath Field in Oklahoma City. The first two innings were smooth sailing for both teams’ pitchers with Alana Vawter only giving up a leadoff home run to Korbe Otis in the first but then limiting the damage to just that one run. The Spark only got one run in those innings and it was manufactured on a double steal with Amari Harper stealing home. In the Third inning Alana Vawter got the first out right away but then was replaced by Jailyn Ford who was able to only get one out and gave up six of the seven runs in the inning. The seven run third inning for the Cascade was a combination of errors and big time clutch hitting with a three run triple from Kendra Falby and an RBI Single from Sydney Stewart, it was capped off by a two run home run off the bat of Mia Davidson her first AUSL home run. The Spark would respond to the seven run inning with a two-run inning of their own on a home run from Delaney Wisz. In the fifth inning the Spark would respond with one more run on a home run from Maya Brady but that would be as close as they would get. Carley Hoover pitched very well for the Cascade going the distance and giving up 4 earned runs but also striking out six and walking only one. The Portland Cascade improved to 9-7 on the season and moved into playoff position with a half game lead over the Carolina Blaze while the Oklahoma City Spark fell to 7-10.
